Introduction: 

You are part of a team of ESOL students that have been instructed to produce a video report on living and learning in Germantown, Maryland.

Task: 

You will be working with three other ESOL students in your investigative group.  You will explain what your "world" is like.  Your group presentation must include a description of your school, the county school system, the ESOL department, and your community.

Process: Each student will be assigned an area to research. You will be the only person in your group investigating the specific content that you are responsible for.  There is a student worksheet you should use to record your research information.  Follow the website links below to find the information that has been assigned to your expert role.  Investigate all the links that are related to your area.  You will need to prepare the information in the form of a well written report.  You should practice your oral presentation until it can be delivered smoothly and fluently.

 These roles should require true cooperation so that one person working alone could not complete the task. To do this, you may want to have students assigned to each role visit different Web sites or have them view the same Web sites from an alternative perspective or with a different focus in mind. 

Clopper Mill Expert

You will be responsible for searching for, gathering, analyzing, and reporting information on Clopper Mill Elementary School.

 

MCPS Expert

You will be responsible for searching for, gathering, analyzing, and reporting information on Montgomery County Public Schools.

 

ESOL Expert

You will be responsible for searching for, gathering, analyzing, and reporting information on the ESOL department.

Germantown Expert

You will be responsible for searching for, gathering, analyzing, and reporting information on the community of Germantown, Maryland.
